Nominations for the summer meeting of the Egmont Racing Club to be held on January 31 and February 2, will close tonight at 8.30 o’clock. The Hawera telegraph office closes at 8 p.m.

Acceptances for the first day of the Wellington Racing Club’s summer meeting to be held on January 22, 24 and 20, will close to-morrow night at 9 o’clock.

Nominations for the autumn meeting of the Taranaki Jockey Club, to be held on Thursday and Saturday, February 7 and 9, will close at 9 p.m. on Friday, when forfeit (1 sov.) Is also due for the Fifteenth Taranaki Stakes.

Trentham tracks were in first-class order for work on Saturday morning. Panther and Historic, together on the tan, ran seven furlongs easily in Imin. 32sec. So far no decision has been reached a« to which will start in the Wellington Cup.

Quantum and Bourse took Imin. 18sec. for six furlongs. Catkin, who is a bit sore, took longer.

Tea Queen and Becky Sharp sprinted four furlongs in 51sec. Tea Queen looks none the worse for her Auckland trip, where her form was good and indicative of better things in the future.

Several two-year-olds used the straight 81x-furlong course down to where it joins the course proper, a little over three furlongs. Amongst those so worked were Push, Crash, Hunting Call, Ex Dono, Tourist, Painting, Lady Reno, First Money, the three-year-old brother to First Sight, and the Biplane two-year-old in J. W. Lowe’s stable.

Oratrix and Concentrate, who look well after their Auckland racing, ran an easy mile on the tan in Imin. 54scc.

Cimabue sprinted half a mile on the grass in 48Asec., Australis taking 50sec. Cimabue sprints so well on the tracks that his public form is hard to understand.

Royal Game and Dewy Bird, who are to race at Foxton, galloped strongly over six furlongs without being sent against the watch.

Grand Blow and General Assembly sprinted three furlongs smartly in 36sec.

j Messrs. Pyne, Gould and Guinness report that they have sold the chestnut gelding by Thurnham from Comment to Mr. W. H. Gaisford, of Dannevirke. This gelding was owned and bred by Mr. G. J. H. Reid, Rotherham.

Mr. A. B. Williams is disposing of some of his active team at Trentham tills month, the sale to take place at 12 noon on January 25. The horses to be offered are: Don Quixote, a two-year-old halfbrother to Sir Roy; Tea Urn, a two-year-old brother to Tl Tree, by Tea Tray from Taiamai; Star God, a brother to Star Stranger, and the recent winner of the double at Hawke's Bay; Knightlike, winner of last year’s Wanganui Debutante Stakes; Joy King, winner of a W.R.C. Thompson Handicap, Manawatu Stakes, J. D. Ormond Gold Cup (w.f.a.), Hawke’s Bay Stakes (w.f.a.), and other races.

Boston, a winner at Moorefield on Saturday, is the three-year-old half-brother by Tea Tray to Gasbag, raced by the Weilington sportsman, Mr. H. P. F. Blundell. It was intended to race Boston at the forthcoming Wellington meeting, and he was entered for that purpose, but satisfactory shipping arrangements could not be made, and he was scratched for all engagements. Patadawn, who ran third to Boston, is a three-year-old by Kilbroney from Bon Chic, who formed one of the team taken to Sydney by J. T. Jamieson.

Flicker, who dead-heated in her race at Moorefield on Saturday, has been racing for aorno time past at the Sydney pony meetings with considerable success. Prior to her departure for Australia, It will be remembered that she showed good form against our three-year-olds at Trentham and Rlccarton, and it Is not surprising to read that, despite her inches. Flicker has proved equal to running prominently amongst the horses again. Flicker still races In the interests of her breeder, Mr. W. T. Hazlett.

W. Rayner does not intend to take Mask to' Trentham. The son of Llmond developed a "leg” after winning the Clifford Plate at Ellerslie, and has done no work since returning home (reports the Wanganui "Herald”).

Ceremony looks well after his northern trip, and he will fulfil his engagement in the 'Wellington Stakes of five furlongs. The son of Absurd—Pennon ran two good races at Ellerslie, where the going was against him. If the track at Trentham is dry Ceremony should make a bold bid

11. Wiggins has been engaged to ride G. Paul’s horses—Awarere, .lust Nell and Papatu—at Wellington. He has also been secured for Gay Ballerina in the Wellington Stakes.

Conditions were again good at the Hawera course on Thursday morning (says the “Star”), Most of the local horses are well keyed up, and not much fast work was indulged in. J. Brown gave Silvermine and Tenacre a good working gallop of about a mile and a quarter. Calyx, the big half-brother to Bisox, has recovered from his leg trouble, and Brown is sending him along a bit more seriously in his work. Grand Mariner and Christmas Tree ran three furlongs nicely in 37Jsec. Lianore was galloped by herself, and ran five furlongs in Imin. 4sec. Bright Glow. Mendip, Orazone, and the rest of J. Fryer’s team were given light useful tasks. Boundary by herself galloped five furlongs in Imin. sJscc. This mare Is engaged at Foxton, and with a good boy up should perform well. Coolmint and Royal Acre did light pace work. It has been decided to keep Royal Acre going until the Hawera meeting, where he will be given a further opportunity at the hurdling business. M. Conway gave Airway, Glen gar iff and Gasnapper light tasks. Rcrenioana worked a couple of laps, coming home the last two furlongs in 36-Jseu. Fortalice did good pace work over a couple of rounds. This horse has lost a lot of his sourness, and promises to race more generously. ' Havering and Patonga did a good working gallop together, running their five furlongs in Imin. Blsec. comfortably. Flying Binge and Valpre sprinted two furlongs smartly in 24 l-ssec. Vivo in her opening essays over hurdles has performed particularly well, and her prospects at the jumping game look distinctly good.

The totalisator handhul £19,573, compared with £17.484 on the corresponding day two years ago at Thames, an increase of £2029. TAI’L HANDICAP. Good Boy and High Tide carried most money in the Tapu Handicap. In the first division Flying Tresses led all the way to beat Dainty .Arch by a length with the .Jack Jumper and High Tide next. Footpad showed speed, but. is evidently, of little account. Good Boy led all the way in the second division, ■ but Valuation came fast nnd beat him easily with Justify and Prince of Orange next. Valuation won very easily and was quite the best horse in either division. HIGH WEIGHT HANDICAP. Ramblin’ Kid and War Officer both let a lot of followers down in the Ilighwelght Handicap. Bizarro, Waka King, War Officer, Archeno aud Mashoor were always prominent, Bizarro winning well from Mashoor and War Officer with Mangani and Asmodcus next. Mangani ran well after getting away badly in the middle stages and will also do better. PURIRI HANDICAP. Arihana was a surprise favourite over Subdivision in the Puriri Handicap. The latter soon put a break on the field, and although tiring he won decisively from Princess Rain, with Takutama and indolent next of a string out field. Another hot favourite in Leitrim went unoer in the Parawai Hack Handicap. Lucy Rose and Leitrim and Good Boy raced in order to the turn where Good Boy came through on the rails to bear Lucy Lose by a length with Leitrim hard up and hrothbiower and Waka King next. Then Maori Boy dashed up to win well from Glenstar, with Cliaritaiue who made up a lot of ground, a close third, and Hakanoa fourth. Maori Boy was always going well, and he raced like an improved horse.. HAURAKI PLAINS HANDICAP, Ohinemuri and Modest Bov disputed favouritism in the Huurnki Plains Handicap.
