TRIBAL REVOLT
ENDED IN EASTERN AFGHANISTAN FIGHTING NORTH OF KABUL (Australian Press Association.) Delhi, January 10. The tribal revolt in Eastern Afghanistan appears to. have ended, but serious fighting is reported between Afghan troops and the rebels under Battehasakao, ten miles north of Kabul. Details are lacking, but it is believed that the latter has gained the advantage. ... , , The Shinwaris, the principal rebel tribe, sent their leaders to Kabul to draw up peace terms, aud are holding Jalalabad city as a hostage for the leaders’ safe return. During the operations against the rebels, an Afghan aeroplane crashed, in flames, and the Russian pilot and another Russian were killed.
