SHOP SET ON FIRE
BURGLARY AT LOWER HUTT
Early yesterday morning the premes of Mr. R. T. Shearer, draper and crceri Main Street, Lower Hutt, were ,‘oken into and set on fire. The dis>very was made by a passer-by at 3.30 m., who saw the flames in the buildg. The Fire Brigade was immediatenotified, and very shortly after the re was under control, the brigade ren-’i-iiig excellent service. An investigate showed that a wooden panel in a tie door leading to a passage way, and ying access to the building, had been :pken. The Are was confined, entirely i the mercery department, the, counts of which were very considerably imaged by fire and water. No estiate has yet been made either of goods olen or destroyed by fire. Apart from •oken windows and door, and damage > smoke antj water, the building was jt injured. Both premises and stock ere insured, but the amounts are not it available.
