THROUGHOUT AUSTRALIA IF TIMBER WORKERS’ DISPUTE NOT SETTLED (Rec. January 11, 11.35.p.m.) Melbourne, January 11. The timber workers’ dispute is coming to a crisis. Telegrams inviting members of the Australian Council of Trades Unions, who reside in other States, to attend a conference in Melbourne have been dispatched, and the view is expressed that if the conference fails to negotiate a settlement with the employers, another big upheaval throughout Australia is bound to occur.
