Athletes ami cvclisls from various parts of the North Island, as well as an overseas competitor who has taken up Ins resilience in Wellhigton. will bo seen in action at the Basin Reserve to-night. The meeting arranged by the Wellington A A (’tub promises to be one ot the Ingeest of its kind to lie held this season. A partv of nearJv fifty competitors from Wanganui will be taking part, and there will be lady athletes from Napier, W airoa and Foxton. Kydbeek. an ex-eluunpion of New South Wales, who formerly cotnneteil ill Europe, will also be a competitor. Contests between leading Wellington and Wanganui athletes promise to be full of interest, as also do the cycling events, for which Carswell. Flett, Gane. Bray, Rose, and Cave will be among the starters. Lander Jenkins, Fleming. Sutherland, and Newton are included in the list. of. entrants for athletic events. Specially interesting will be the ladies races in which the local runners will be opposed by Misses llovlc, Doherty. P. Stewart, Barron, and Greagor from other districts. Miss H°y*o is credited with running 100 yards in 11 2-ssec.
