The South African Wireless Company has not succeeded in obtaining a license to work tlie beam, despite the fact that it. has. been efficiently operating for a year and a half. The late Labour Minister sought to insert irritating clauses which the company rejected, and the new Minister hesitates to reverse the policy, thereby delaying the initiation of beam services to the other Dominions. The differences, including land charges, are going to arbitration. NEW COMMUNICATIONS COMPANY (Rec. January 10, 7.35 p.m.) London, January 9. ilt is officially announced that Sir Basil Blackett becomes chairman and the Earl of Clarendon director of the Communications Company, taking over the cable and wireless services.
