EVENING MEETING AT BASIN RESERVE SOME CLOSE FINISHES Under the glow of the powerful electric lights at the Basin Reserve on Saturday night fast-moving men and women showed their speed and cyclists whizzed around the track with lowered heads. There were several close finishes, and the crowd present were provided with an enjoyable evening’s sport.

Anderson won the 100 yards race from the 7yds. mark in 10 2-ssec., while M. Gane emerged successful from an exciting competition in the one mile scratch cycle race, which was the second race in the Wellington all-round champion series of 12 races. E. G. Sutherland won the high jump and was second to D. Brown at putting the shot. The Indies’ races were all well contested. Miss V. Miller won the 100 yards in 12 1-5 sec. and the 110 yards in 13 2-ssec., and was the means of giving victory to her club, Wellington, in the relay race.
