CONCERT AND PRIZE LISTS.

The annual school concert was accorded a packed house on Tuesday evening, the scholars giving a fine display. AU the items reflected great credit on the teachers both for training, dressing, and effects. Mrs.- Clifford-Jones presided at the piano, and was in no small part responsible for the, success of the entertanment. The chairman.of the School Committee, Mr. A. E. Hyde, hi asking the audience to show their appreciation of the work done by the teachers, made reference to the lack of interest displayed by the parents in school committee matters. He hoped that an improvement In this would be forthcoming, and that there would be a large gathering at the breaking-up ceremony. The dental clinic was assured, said the speaker, and he knew that an appeal to the public for funds towards the up-keep would receive ready response. Pirovana; “Soot and the Fairies,” Standard 4; physical drill, Standard 6; “Lighthouse Tragedy,” Standard 5: Maori haka. Standard 3; recitation, Olga Buckman: “Days of the Week.” Standard 6; “Good night to you all.” children. . Proficiency certificates were obtained by Percy Bennett, Winston Cross, Richard Lester, Vivian Richards, Thomas Roach, .Arthur Satherley, Mervyn Taylor, Victor Tippler, Kathleen Bass, Ray Brann, Phyllis Butterworth, Joyce Ellwood, May Exton, Irma Finnerty, Joan Finnerty, Lyla Holden'Leonard Lee. Endorsed competencies: Ray Blaekbourn. Herman Pone. Kathleen Butters, Freda Robinson, Freda Thomson. Competencies: William Foster. Vincent Picard. Hazel Gardner, Doris Satherley, Nola Butters, Dorothy Exton. The following boys and girls receive awards for obtaining the highest number of marks for. the year’s work in their respective classes:—Dux, Joyce Ellwood; Standard VI, Joyce Ellwood and Winston Cross: Upper Standard V, Leonard Lee; Standard V, Phoebe Small and Selwyn Ellwood: Standard IV, Grace Millar and Murray Linklater: Standard 111. Joan Bovis and Stanley Gunning: Standard 11. Daisy Lister and Trevor Ingley: Standard I. Betty Rolston and Ronald Mardon. Special prizes donated by the Mayor (.Mr. E. Butt) for the highest njimber of marks obtained in Standards 4,5, and 6.
