TO-DAY’S WEATHER FORECAST.

Meteorological Office, Wellington, December 18, 4 p.m. The auti-cyelone is now centred north-east of New Zealand. Barometers have fallen in the south under the influence of a depression which is advancing across the Tasman Sea. Moderate to strong north to west winds, reaching gale force for short intervals, in places in and south of Cook Strait. Seas smooth to moderate generally at first, but becoming rather rough on the WestCoast of the South Island and in Cook and Foveaux Stiaits. Moderate to strong northerly and later backing to westerly winds, and moderate to rather rough seas ’n the eastern Tasman. Weather fair to fine in eastern districts, but becoming cloudy and unsettled in western and central districts, with showers developing. Warm temperatures.
