SPORT ON SATURDAY
As a preliminary to the holiday sports gatherings the electric light meeting to be held under the auspices of the Wellington Amateur Athletic Centre at the Basin Reserve on Saturday night should be of special interest. Competitors in all branches of the sport are now striking top form. It is stated that excellent entries have been received all round, the competitors including most of the local champions and many others heading well for championship honours. An event of special Interest will be the continuation of the all-round cycling championship, the eight selected riders being matched over a mile. At the outset of the meeting a challenge race will take place between Foote and Butler for a place among the eight in the all-round championship, j.hore will be other cycling events, and a full programme of athletic events.
