FROM SCHOOL TO WORK
BRIDGING THE GAP Dominion Special Service. Dunedin, December 17. The Dunedin Chamber of Commerce recently set up. a special committee to consider the question of bridging the gap between school and wore. Questionnaires were sent out to headmasters of primary and secondary schools, and also to employers of labour. In a report presented by the committee to-night, the view was expressed that some sort of clearing house should be set up. to which on oiie hand a list of boys and girls about to leave school for work, .together with their record, and a note of ■ their special aptitude for any particular vocation, should be sent, and to which, on the other hand, employers could refer when filling vacancies. It was felt that something along these lines would go a long way towards settling boys and girls, and would largely do away witli putting round pegs in square holes. The report was adopted.
