GAMES FOR CHRISTMAS

You needn’t wait for a party to play this game. It will be just as amusing when you have a few friends to tea. Two players are chosen and placed on chairs opposite to each other. One—• well, call him Jack—gives orders to the other whom we’ll call Jim, but—whatever Jack tells Jim to do he must do just the opposite. “Put your thumbs up,” says Jack. Jim puts them down. 'When he is told to stand, he sits. For "black” he says “white” and so on until he forgets and is "out.” Another player takes his place. He thinks it’s awfully easy, but before he knows where he is, he is out, too. The one who isn’t caught napping is the winner. Here are two nice party games. The first is: Treasure Hunt. Hide pea-nuts or beads in different parts of the room. At a given signal all the children begin hunting. At another signal, they all stop and then their nuts or beads are counted. The one who has collected' the most, gets a little prize. Musical Cushions. The players stand in a ring and a cushion is passed round to music. ■When the music stops, the one who is holding the cushion is out. Anyone who throws the cushion, or who tries to get rid of it after the music stops is out too. The one who is left in at the very end is the winner.
