SCULLING
PEARCE MAY TURN PROFESSIONAL. (Australian Press Assn. —United Service.) Sydney. December 17. It Is rumoured that Pearce, the Australian sculler and Olympic single sculls champion, may turn professional after next Saturday's amateur championship. It is understood that lie lias received an otter to race Burns, the holder of the Australian professional championship, for a CoOO purse and the right to challenge Bert Barry for the world title on the Thames. Pearce says that lie cannot live on air awaiting the terms of an offer from the Philadelphia Boat Club.
