SEALED ROADS FOR LOWER HUTT

£20,000 LOAN LIKELY Announcement of a loan proposal in connection with tar-sealing of roads in Lower Hutt was made at the monthly meeting last night of the Lower Hutt Borough Council. The Mayor brought the subject forward when replying to a deputation which waited on the council asking that something be done to abate the dust nuisance in Ludlam Crescent. The Mayor, in replying, said the engineer of the council was preparing figures in readiness for a loan proposal which the council was considering placing before the ratepayers. It was proposed to raise a loan of approximately £20,000 for the purpose of tar-sealing 15 or 16 miles of streets. Ludlam Crescent was included in the proposed programme of- works. There was no pros-’ pect of having the work commenced before next autumn. He hoped the ratepayers would rise to the occasion. The matter of immediate attention to Ludlam Crescent was referred to the Works Committee for report.
