LATE CAPTAIN M. SELLARS. Captain M. Sellars, who died at Lyttelton on December 6, had been in command of the Westport Coal Company's steamer Canopus for many years. He was wellknown ou the New Zealand coast, and hail been trading to Auckland for a number of years. He was born In Scotland and eame to New Zealand before the steamship had gained the ascendancy in the shipping world. About 10 years ago lie Joined the Canopus as chief otileer, and after a tew years’ service in that capacity he was transferred to the company's shore staff. t)u rejoining the Canopus he was appointed master, a position he held until his death.
