EXCURSION TO PICTON AND BLENHEIM

Boxing Day excursionists to Picton and Blenheim this year will have the 4500-ton ferry steamer Wahine for the run across the strait. She will leave Wellington at S a.m., and with her 20-knot speed the trip to Picton should take about 2J hours, more than half of this time being inside the heads at either end. The Railway Department is arranging a special train to leave Picton for Blenheim after the Wnhine’s arrival. returning again to the wharf before she leaves. Those who prefer to remain in Picton will have three or four hours in which to see the pleasant surroundings of the town or to ’take a spin in one of the launches which will be running to various beauty spots. The vessel will leave Picton on the return ’trip about 2 p.m., arriving at Wellington shortly after 5 o’clock. The Wahine will make a similar excursion to Picton on Wednesday, January 2, 1929.
