MAGISTRATE'S COURT
Police in the Magistrate's Court on Saturday morning were heard before Mr. J. H. Salmon, S.M. Hans Hansen, a ship’s fireman, who arrived in New Zealand from Montreal on October 11 by the Canadian Conqueror, and who later deserted from the ship, was charged witii being a prohibited immi»rant. The Collector of Customs (Mr. L. 'l' W Maclaurin) asked that accused might be deported. He was sentenced to fourteen days’ imprisonment, and was ordered to be deported by the next st e a ™ er belonging to the line from which he deSer On d ’the application of Chief-Detective Ward a reman! until November 28 wa granted to Charles Frederick Walsh, aged 1% and Thomas Walsh, aged 20, who were charged with breaking and entering, by day the house of Charles Frederick Worth, 27 William Street, and steahng £2l 10s. in money. Thomas Walsh, who was also charged with the theft of a gold watch and gold chain, a silver watch, two pairs of shoes, and one :shirt, valued at £44. the property of Bartholomew. John Kelleher, was also remanded until November 28.
