A lady who was somewhat conspicuous in the election in Eltham met with a shrivellF-- retort during the campaign (relates the Eltham “Argus”). “I hope,” she said to an other lady, “that you are voting for the right man.” The reply came: "Oil yes, I am voting for the right man.” This appeared to the first lady to be a somewhat ambiguous reply, so, in search of further information, she went on: “I ho”c you are not voting for the fool.” “Oh no. certainly not: he has been in Parliament long enough.” The interrogating lady had struck a snag.
