Masterton is fortunate in possessing such a capable band of players as it has in the Masterton Orchestra, and there could have been a larger audience at the concert held in the Opera House on Wednesday. A varied selection of orchestral items was supplemented by the solo work of Madame de Mauny (piano), Mr. Leon de Mauny (violin), Mrs. Rosewarne, Messrs. S. J. Smith, H. J. Jones, and E. Hale (vocal). Miss L. Hall, A.T.C.L., acquitted herself more than creditably in her new role of conductor The audience was highly appreciative of the whole programme, and it is expected that there will be a large attendance at the concert to be given at the Opera House on Sunday night in aid of the Municipal Band contest fund.
