Tn connection with -the erection -rft; centlv of a transformer house on- the train line' between Moorhouse Street and Pitt Street Wadestown; portion of the tram-track was asphalted in orderto facilitate the. transport. of building material and machinery. ' The local Ratepayers’ Association made representations to the Mayor to have, the remainder of the track similarly treated on account of the use that is made of it by. pedestrians. -As a result, the association’has been informed tha the. tram track between the st^ eets ferred to is to be declared a public access wav and that when the neces-sary-legal formalities have been completed, the asphalting, also the e r ect ’ o ’ l of a hand-rail, will be proceeded with. It is hoped that the association s efforts to have the remainder of the.track between Pitt Street and Sefton Street declared a public road will meet with the success it deserves, and thus remove the difficulty which at present exists in the matter of access between the Wadestown and Highland Parkdistricts.
