On his recent trip to Europe to attend the World Missionary Conference at Jerusalem, the Rev. D. Calder was the victim of an embarrassing practical joke (relates the “Auckland Star”). Telling the story to the Auckland Auxiliary of the British and Foreign Bible Society, he stated that shortly before the vessel sailed from Wellington for London his eldest son “doctored” his parents’ clothes with confetti. “For the first week my wife and I were left severely alone, and people would shoot long side glances and knowing winks at us whenever we appeared.
