AUCTIONS CENTRAL HUTT BULLETIN rpWF, “BULLETIN” has reappeared. -L Three years ago it was called “Haywards Bulletin.” It chronicled from day to day interesting items of news regarding the daily developments taking place in that erstwhile sleepy hollow, called “Haywards” before Mr. George came there and began developing Garden Suburbs as a hobby. Then things began to move.' What would old Mr. Hayward, who used to grow onions and strawberries, which he used to sell to passengers dn s the passing Wairarapa trains which crossed' nt Haywards, say if he were told that some of the land on which he grew strawberries Wti.? soltl three years a &o in sections, at the rate of eight hundred pounds an acre? And now, within thi’kff short years, what further progress has Keen. made. Well, "Haywards,” now better .known as “Manor Park,” has been pat' on the map. The pessimists who prophesied failure when the first auction sale ever held in , the district, was held, now admit they , were mistaken. Some of the fortunate purchasers at the first sale have already sold their holdings at a handsome profit on the price they paid. In one or two instances, they doubled their money, and have been waiting impatiently for the next auction sale. That is the reason why ‘‘The Bulletin will be so eagerly scanned by them and others. Well, here is a bit of news that is not yet known to the public, iiz., that during the past week a track has been exit up Beulah Hill, so that the people of Wellington can have an opportunity ot getting to the summit, which has been cleared of bush sufficiently to. reveal one of the finest views of the Valley to be seen anywhere. This particular lot to be sold by auction on n &( !| nr ‘! ay T f at 2 p.m., on the ground itself. It tvHI probably command the highest price yet realised for Beulah Hill sec ions On Saturday next, which is view day for the whole estate. Blue Taxi-cabs will meet the 1.20 train from town, at Haywards Railway Station, to take intending purchasers to the spot. ABOUT THOSE SEVEN WEEK-END EARMS. The announcement in the Press yesterday that seven farms, not exceeding ou acres each, were to be sold by auction next week has excited fluAe a sir amongst city folk. To be able to become a landed proprietor of 50 acres of good farming land within 50 minutes motor run of the city, at little more than the cost of a pocket handkerchief allotment in the citv, seems too good to be true. e, are authorised by the Auctioneers of the Manor Park Estate to state that the Blue Taxis which will meet the 1.-0 train on Saturday, at the Haywards Railway Station, to take visitors to view the Beulah Hill” Sections, will take all wishin„ to view these farms, up to the top of the road at the corner of the Paliautanui and Mount Cecil Roads, from which a view of most of the farms may be obtained. The distance is about a mile and a half. A walk down the Valley Road from the top is a delightful experience.. It overlooks the splendid gorge of native bush, now called Memorial Park, whilst on the descent from time to time, you will get exquisite panoramas of scenery extending up and down the Hutt River and A alley. It is important that visitors wishing to avail themselves of the Blue Taxi-cab., inform the Auctioneers Messrs. DaLety and Co.. Limited, or Messrs. Eric Johnston and Co., of their desire to he driven to see these farms, otherwise they may find that sufficient taxis have not been provided. Visitors are also notified that arrangements have been made with the Manageress of the Manor Park Tearooms to supply afternoon teas for 6d. and Is. each person. The tearooms also supply luncheons if required. If it is a fine day, you can have no more delightful outing than to spend a day on the hills behind Haywards. Hie champagne air on these hills, six hundred to a thousand feet above sea level, acts like a tonic. It's so bracing that it makes you feel twenty years younger.
