The tallow sales were not held, owing to the small supplies. It is hoped to resume the sales on November 2S. Messrs. At the wool sales, 10,501 bales were offered, of which 0094 were Australian, and 3151 New Zealand, comprising an excellent selection of greasy merinos, suitable for all sections, a largo offering of slipes and a small supply of other sorts. At the closing wool auctions of the week a firm market, with prices unchanged, again ruled, with particularly strong demand for fine quality lines. Greasy merino made 31jd. The number of bales sold was 13,103. BUTTER AND CHEESE Messrs. Joseph Nathan and Co., Ltd., have received the following cablegram from their London house, dated November 21: —New Zealand butter, 1755. to 1795. per cwt.; steady. New Zealand cheese, 1045.; coloured. 102 s. per cwt.; weak. The Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Led., have received the following cablegram from their London house under date November 21 (last quotations in parentheses) —Butter: New Zealand choicest salted new season, 180 s. per cwt. (178 s. to 180 s.). Market steady. Cheese: 103 s. to 105 s. per cwt. (104 s. to 1075.). Market quiet. LIVE STOCK SALES WESTFIELD By Telegraph.—Press Association. Auckland, November 21. At Westfield a very heavy yarding of ox beef came forward, for which competition was limited, and in Consequence the market showed a decline. Prime, and heavy bullocks showed a drop of about 40s. a head. Light-weight prime bullocks did not show such a sharp drop, and were more in demand. Cow beef was yarded in larger numbers than usual, and hero again a drop in values was recorded. Extra choice ox sold to 435. per 1001 b., prime young cow and heifer beef 355. to 375. Sheep.—An average yarding of t-eep came forward, which sold under fair competition at rates slightly below those ruling at last week’s market. Extra heavy prime wethers, shorn, made 355. od., heavy, prime 335. 9d., medium 31s. 'Cd., light and unfinished 295. Cd., heavy prime ewes 295., lighter 2Gs., other ewes 225. Lambs.—An average yarding of spring lambs came forward, which sold at Inte rates. Heavy prime lambs made 305., medium 295. Cd., light 255. Calves were yarded in average numbers nnd prices showed a drop on last week’s rates. Runners made to £5, heavy vealers £3 10s. to £4, medium £2 14s. to £3 7s. MASTERTON. The Wairarapa Farmers’ Co-Operative Association, Ltd. (stock department), report having offered a fairly good entry of sheep to a good attendance of buyers. Included in the offering were a few lines of shorn two and four-tooth wethers, which were the first of their kind to be auctioned in the yards for the present season. Prices were exceptionally good, as follow: 113 shorn four-tooth wethers, 28s. 4d.; 133 two-tooth wethers, 265.; 20 small two-toOth wethers, 235. 7d.; 104 woolly ewes with 100 per cent, lambs, 465. fid.; 12 woolly fat ewes, 28s. 6d.; fixe store ewes, 205.; 14 mixed sex hoggets, 335. 6d. Tattersfield, Limited’s, sixteenth annual balance-sheet shows the year’s operations to have resulted in a profit of £8963 19s. 7d after ample provision for depreciation has been allowed. "During the past three months the quality of the coal has improved,. and satisfactory results have been obtained.
