PETONE CLUB The Petone Rifle Club fired the first competition of the Long Range Series, Flaws Cup, and Longfield Aggregate at Trenthani on Saturday, the ranges being 800 and 1)00 yards. The conditions were very treacherous, the rear “fish-tail” giving marksmen aplenty of trouble, and the sudden changes on the long flight of the bullet often found the shots on the edge of the target instead of in the centre. However, some members were able to record some good range scores. At 800 yards IL Diek.son made a good 47, R. H. Nicholl 40, A. Ballinger 45, F. Kershaw and W. 11. Ballinger 44 each. At 900 yards the scoring was consistently low. and few competitors put all their shots on the target. F. Kershaw made 45, W. Johnston 42, A. Ballinger, A. Scott, and W. H. Ballinger 41 each. F. Kershaw was top scorer for the day oft the gun with 89, followed by A. Ballinger SO, W. H. Ballinger and R. H. Nicholl 85 each. The tentative spoon are A. Ballinger in the “A” grade and F. Kershaw and A. Scott in t.he lower grades. The ■weekly competition for the J. and I . Badges resulted in a win for T. Warburton’s team with 397 points (F. Kershaw 89, A. Ballinger SB. T. WELLINGTON SUBURBS CLUB The Wellington- Suburbs Defence Rifle Club fired their first shoot of the second scries at Trentliam on Saturday alternooii. at 800yds. and 900yds.
