FROM FAR AND NEAR Cruiser Von Seydlitz Refloated.— The German warship Von Seydlitz, sunk at Scapa Flow in 1919, was (states an Australian Press Associa-tion-United Service message) refloated bottom upwards on Friday. Found Drowned.—A Press Association message from Suva reports that Ernest Hurley, an employee of Morris Hedstrom, Levuka. lias been found drowned in Levuka Creek. British Honour for Japanese Emperor.—A “Sun” message from London states that His Alajesty the King is conferring the Order of the Garter on the Emperor of Japan. The Duke of Gloucester will probably convey the honour to Tokio in 1929. Baron Huenfeld Returning.— Baron von Huenfeld (states an Australian Press Association message from Tokio) is returning to Europe across Siberia. He has donated his aeroplane Europa to the Imperial Aviation Association: Ex-Officer of English Air Force in Sad Position.— An ex-oflicer of the English Air Force, aged 27, pleaded guilty in the Hamilton Magistrate’s Court on Saturday to attempting to commit suicide by poison, states a Press Association message. He had been injured twice in the war by crashing. He limped into the court with his young wife, a New Zealander. The evidence showed that accused, though supported by his parents, who were in England, was greatly depressed by inability to obtain employment as a mechanic. He was convicted and discharged.
