TRAGIC DILEMMA
GIRL COLLAPSES IN COURT (United Service.) Vancouver, November 2. Margaret Welch, chief witness against sixteen men who are charged with gang terrorism at Chicago, faces a tragic problem. Her brother was kidnapped by the gangsters, who threaten to kill him if she continues her testimony, adding that they will get her also later. To-day she collapsed. in court, crying: “I can’t go on. They will kill my brother.” The Court then adjourned to give the police time to hunt the kidnappers.
