SHIPPING ACTIVITY
NINE OVERSEAS SHIPS TO-DAY
Unusual activity iu shipping matters will be apparent to-day, when five large oversea ships are due to arrive. The Makura from Sydney will berth at Queen's Wharf to prepare for her departure for San Francisco to-morrow afternoon. The whaler C. A. Larsen from San Pedro will berth at Miramar Wharf to take in oil fuel. The tanker Voco, from San Pedro via Auckland, arrived yesterday and went to Burnham Wharf. Miramar, to pump oat part cargo of motor spirit. Another tanker, the Bohemian Club, from San Pedro via Australia, is due at 8 a.m. to-day and will berth at Thorndon to discharge the remainder of her cargo of motor spirit. Other oversea ships due this morning are tlie New Zealand Shipping Company’s steamer Ruahine from Auckland to load for London, and the Golden Bear from Pacific Coast ports via Auckland with timber and other cargo to discharge. Besides the above ships other oversea vessels in port are the Karamea from London. Hertford from Liverpool, and Kasama from New York, all discharging general cargo.
