FIRE INSURANCE DISPUTE
UNSUCCESSFUL SUIT AGAINST COMPANY.
(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) New Plymouth, November 3.
Judgment for defendant was given in the Magistrate’s Court this morning in a case in which Mrs. Snowden sued the Phoenix Assurance Company for £174, claimed as loss through fire on July 1. The defence was that an overdue premium was not paid until July 2, after the fire had occurred, but before defendant’s agents were aware of it, and that plaintiff did not report the fire. Plaintiff said that she paid the premium on May 8, and produced a receipt dated March 15, when the premium was actually due. ‘
