FAT LAMBS

COMPETITION BETWEEN A. AND P. ASSOCIATIONS.

I’ahiatua, November 2. The proposal to hold a fat lambs’ competition, to be judged at Home, between the Masterton, Daunevirke, Feilding, Woodville and Pahiatua A. and P. Associations was advanced a further step yesterday ' when a meeting of delegates representative of the associations mentioned was held at Palmerston North to consider the scheme. Delegates present were .Messrs. H. B. Stuckey (Dannevirke), H. J. Richards (Levin), W. I’. McLaren. J. M. James, and R. H. Williams (Masterton), W. McLean and R. Swainson (Feilding), J. C. Bolton and F. W, Blatchford (Woodville), T. C. Cornford, J. P. Tylee and J. A. Walsh (Pahiatua). Mr. Stuckey, who was elected to the chair, said that the suggestion was an admirable one and would not only stimulate friendly rivalry amongst the associations interested but also would do much in the direction of advertising New, Zealand's prime lambs on the Home market. Other delegates spoke in a similar strain, and it was unanimously decided to hold a competition on - the lines suggested, for lambs under 421 b. and that Messrs. H. S. Fitter and Son (London) be asked to judge and take charge of the competition. It was also resolved that the Marton A. and P. Association be invited to take part in. the. competition and that each association interested contribute a sum of two guineas to be allocated in prize iponey. The details are to be discussed by the committees of the associations at the earliest possible moment, after which the delegates will again meet , and the scheme he finally adopted. Tn the meanwhile the Masterton A. and P. Association has been asked to supervise the preliminary arrangements. The Pahiatua A. and P. Association was thanked for suggesting the competition and also for arranging the meeting
