The weather was muggy and threatening, but the wicket was good for the resumption of the England v. Victoria cricket match yesterday. Woodful was unwell and Ryder was in charge. Hendren made free with the bowling and scored twelve off one over by Ebeling. Fifty were added in thirty-five minutes. White was stolid and lasted sixty-eight minutes; he hit one four. Ironmonger then secured two wickets with successive balls. Hendren made his hundredth century in first-class cricket; he was smartly thrown out from cover by Scaife. His inningh lasted 134 minutes; he hit eleven fours. Four wickets fell for the addition of twenty-five runs. Light rain fell during the lunch adjournment, and the wicket was covered; sawdust was used on resumption. Chapman hit the bowling freely after lunch, and with Larwood fifty runs were added in eighteen minutes. . The bowlers were hampered by the greasy ball. Four hundred came up in 379 minutes.
