About forty boys from the Boys’ High School were present at a recent meeting of the Christchurch City Council in order to see how the city’s business is transacted. The Mayor (Mr. J. K. Archer) took the opportunity of welcoming them, expressing the hope that one day some of them would be councillors and perhaps Mayors, but he apologised for the comparative ' peacefulness of the meeting (reports an exchange). “I know boys are always keen for a fight,” lie .said, “but you have not chosen a night on which any highly-debatable questions are likely to come up.”
