AMATEUR TRANSMITTERS

The proportion of the transmitting amateurs of Wellington attending the monthly meeting of the Second District branch of the New Zealand Amateur Radio Transmitters, spoke well for the enthusiasm ot the members. Mr. Johnson (2GA) presided, and, after the general business bad been disposed of, brought forward for discussion the practice growing up in parts of Australia of differentiating between various amateur stations, certain stations (the operators of which had satisfied the requirements) adding to their call the letters S.S. ("Super Station") on signing off. It was decided that such a differentiation was undesirable and not in the best interests of the amateur movement. -, Another matter which was brought up was the prevalence of complaints regarding interference experienced by broadcast listeners, which might or might not be placed’at the door of amateur trans- 1 mitters. Members were requested to bring any such complaints of interference by amateur transmitters before the associn- • tiou, in-order that an investigation of tiic particular ease might be made, and every effort made io eliminate any trouble of the kind.

An exhibit of particular interest was a ihiniaturc transmitter and a receiver to match It constructed by Mr. Johnson, the whole transmitter being made within an aluminium cube having a side about six indies long.
