REFUND OF PETROL TAX
FALSE DECLARATION BY " . FARMER. By Telegraph.—Press Association.' , . Ashburton, November 2. A farmer at Pendarves was fined £1 on a charge of having mhde a false declaration for the purpose of obtaining a refund of petrol tax. He'fdeaded guilty. The police stated that the declaration was made for 926 gallons, 256 of which had been used in a prior period. . Counsel explained that declarations had to be made in bi-monthly periods and within seven days. The defendant was not aware that he was doing wrong. ■
