AV Al PAW A SEAT. (By Telegraph. —Press Association.) Waipuktirau, November 1. Mr. E. A. Goodger, the Independent United Party candidate of .the Waipawa electorate, opened his campaign at Waipukurau before a good attendance last night. The candidate explained his reason for contesting the seat. He had been asked to stand by a large number ot the supporters of tlie party who were dissatisfied at not beiiig consulted in the selection of tlie official candidate. Mr. Goodger dealt with Reform’s policy of land settlement, the national debt, mid advances to settlers. He said that the hydro-electric scheme at Mangahao was a colossal blunder, mid contended that if the Government had concentrated on the development at AVnikiiremoana there would be no need for Mangahao mid Arapuni. Both appeared to be political undertakings. He favoured a system of secular and compulsory education, in which every child should receive four . years' secondary education, and mi extension of free dental treatment, especially for backhlock children. He said that < the Savings Bunk should be regarded as the people's bank, and that the interest- : earning limit ulmiilil be kent high.
