DIFFUSION OF BRITISH RACE
BIGGEST THING IN HISTORY ENCOURAGING WOMEN TO MIGRATE (British Official Wireless.) Rugby, October 31. Addressing a meeting in connection with the Society for the Overseas Settlement of British Women, the Dominions Secretary, Mr. Amery, said the diffusion of the British race over the world was by far the biggest thing in all history. The unity and development of the Empire depended directly on the successful flow of our people from these shores to the Dominions, so as to bring about not only a better numerical distribution of our people, but also a better distribution from the viewpoint of opportunity to every man and woman, and above all to every child. What must be kept in mind was the building up of a great commonwealth of nations for the welfare of each and all. Everything should be done to encourage educated women to go overseas. “We have succeeded,” he added, “in making this great question a non-party question, and that in itself is, I think, a very great triumph. We have also made it in a very peculiar sense an inter-imperial question—a link for discussion between the Governments and Parliaments of the Empire.” __________
