TO-DAY’S WEATHER FORECAST.
Meteorological Office, Wellington, November 1, 4 p.m. The northern cyclone is moving eastwards. There is a weak anti-cyclone centred south of New Zealand, and a fresh depression situated over South-East Australia. "Winds: Moderate to strong. Southerly winds north of Westport and Akaroa, still with gale force at places, but decreasing; elsewhere moderate to strong easterly and later northerly winds. Seas heavy between East Cape and Kaikoura, and rough elsewhere in New Zealand waters. Moderate to strong southerly winds and rather rough seas in the eastern Tasman Sea; later winds veering to northerly in the southern portion. Weather fair to cloudy at first in Westland and Otago, but shortly becoming unsettled with showers. Elsewhere still cold, unsettled, and squally, with showers in most districts, and some heavy falls on the East Coast between East Cape and Akaroa. Conditions gradually moderating.
