THE 11 O’CLOCK WEATHER REPORT
ELECTRICAL STORMS OVER SYDNEY
USE OF LONG WIRELESS AERIAL UNWISE

Blenheim, October 11.
At 11 o'clock to-night the weather report from Dr. Kidson and from the Australian coast indicated that it was inadvisable for the Southern Cross to leave. In view of this Kingsford Smith and Ulm decided to postpone the flight. The reports indicate that it will probably be 4S hours before a further opportunity presents itself. There are reports of thunderstorms over Sydney, and the Australian report states that if the trip were undertaken it would he unwise to trail the long aerial over the hitter part of the journey, on account of the risk of lightning. Dominion Special Service. The sleepy quartet were aroused at 11 o'clock, when Dr. Kidsori’s fateful report came through, and after commiserating with one another they returned to bed, the instructions to be called early being cancelled. It was a night of disappointments for Blenheim, large crowds waiting about until after 11 o’clock for definite news. Some people were at the aerodrome from early evening. SYDNEY PREPARED FOR LANDING

Everything is in readiness here for the safe landing of the Tasman flyers, if they arrive to-morrow night. The Defence Department is keeping in close touch with the aviators.
The public are greatly interested in the newspaper accounts of the flyers’ doings and in the valuable help received from Dr. Kidson’s Department.
