LOCAL WAR MEMORIALS
GOVERNMENT CO-OPERA-TION An earnest of the Government’s cooperation with the city of Wellington in connection with the setting apart of what is known as Quinton’s Corner as a site for the Citizens’ War Memorial is contained in the Supplementary Estimates. The item is a first payment of £5OOO, and is to be applied as a subsidy for the “purchase of additional land taken at the corner of Lambton Quay and Bowen Street.” The Supplementary Estimates also include an item of £2OOO payable on account towards the Wellington carillon.
