Further evidence of the Government’s recognition of the importance of the primary industries is to be found on the Supplementary Estimates dealt with by the House of Representatives yesterday. The appropriations Include the following items — Assistance in connection with fertilisers for farmers in isolated districts, £75. Analysis and sampling of fertilisers In Europe and Great Britain, £l2OO. Grants to cattle-dipping associations (on account), £lOOO. Carriage by Railways Department of fodder for starving stock, £llOO. Portion of freight rates on fertilisers (additional), £27,000. Additional bonus on export of pork, £5OOO.
Guarantee on export of eggs, £5OO. Agricultural investigations and research, £lOOO. Dairy research, £5OO (additional). Publicity in England for New Zealand produce, £lOOO.
