1928 RHODES SCHOLARS

AUCKLAND NOMINEES Dominion Special Service. Auckland, October 8. Messrs. P. C. Minns and E. E. Bailey were selected as the Auckland candidates for Rhodes scholarship honours for 1928 by the Professorial Board of the Auckland University College this morning. Both candidates have excellent scholastic and athletic records. Mr. Minns was born on October 1, 1907, and is the well-known ’Varsity footballer who gained representative honours and was selected to represent New Zealand against New South Wales in the first Test. As a runner he has also gained success. He is at present i in his final year for the B.A. degree. ' Mr. Bailey was also born in 1907 and is an Auckland boy. , He qualified as a solicitor at the age of 19 in 1927, and completed his LL.B, degree this year. He is now sitting for his LL.M, degree. He represented his university against the American debaters and was a member of the college fifteen that recently visited Fiji. He is also a keen tennis enthusiast.
