Relating the other evening how he entered boxing in the United States, Tom Heeney stated that lie first interviewed some of the sporting writers, who asked him what lie was (says the "Poverty Bay Herald”). He replied that he was a boxer and wanted to tight. One expert asked him if he wanted to fight Tunney, as did every overseas boxer the minute he stepped into the United States. When Tom replied that he did not want to fight Tunney. but someone a bit easier, the pressman remarked : "Well, you’re honest about it.” “I reckon I was not a bad judge, either.” commented Heeney, concluding the anecdote amidst laughter.
