MAUDE ROYDEN ON PROHIBITION
Sir, —The editor of “Cheerio,” in your issue to-day, eulogises Maude Royden for her utterance on Prohibition tit the Wellington Town Hall. . I would like him to study the following extract from an American paper 1 received some time ago: “At one of her meetings in New England, Miss Maude Royden said: 'I praise the wish of the American people to be rid of the liquor evil. It is a heavy part of our national life in England, and I only wish we could rid ourselves of it. It is a great adventure the United States has embarked upon in its sweeping effort to be rid of the drink evil, I wish it success.” Evidently, Miss Royden is not in love with -the liquor trade. —I am, etc., JUST A WOMAN. Wellington, September 12.
