WORLD’S FIRST TEN A. W. MYERS’S RANKING (Australian Press Association.) London, September 18. A Wallis Myers, writing in the “Daily Telegraph,” places international tennis players in the following order: — Men. (1) Henri Cochet (France). (2) Rene Lacoste (France). (3) W. T. Tilden (U.S.A.). (4) F. T. Hunter (N.S.A.). (5) Jean Borotra (France). (G) G. M. Lott (U.S.A.). (7) H. W. Austin (England). (8) J. F. Hennessey (U.S.A.). (9) Baron H. L. de Morpurgo (Italy). (10) J. B. Hawkes (Australia). ‘‘The Commonwealth has a brilliant recruit in J. Crawford,” continues Mr. Myers, “and a fine doubles player'in H. Hopman. Crawford’s strokes are more engaging than those of many of the leading players, but he lacks the will to coordinate them. Would that England had two fine players like them as a spearhead.” Women. Dealing with the women’s side of the game, he places them internationally in the following order : — (1) Miss Helen Wills (U.S.A.). (2) Senorita de Alvarez (Spain). (3) Miss Daphne Akhurst (Aus.). (4) Miss Eileen Bennett (England). (5) Mrs. Watson (England). (6) Miss E. Ryan (U.S.A.). (7) Fraulein C. Aussem (Germany). (8) Miss Ken Bouman (Holland). (9) Miss Helen Jacobs (U.S.A.). (10) Miss Esna Boyd (Australia). “SHALL NEVER PLAY AGAIN’’ MLLE. SUZANNE LENGLEN’S DECISION (Australian Press Association.) Paris, September 18. “I shall never play tennis again, either as amateur or professional. I haven’t touched a racket for months, and never want to see one again.” This was Mlle. Suzanne Lenglen s reply, when questioned in reference to Press reports that she intended to seek reinstatement as an amateur.
