IMPROVED RAIL SERVICE
BETWEEN PALMERSTON AND NAPIER. The Prime Minister (Right Hou. J. G. Coates) told Mr. J. Mason (Napier) in the House of Representatives yesterday that rail communication between Palmerston North and Napier is likely to be improved in the near future. Mr. Mason asked the Prime Minister whether the Railway Department would, in order to more effectively meet tlie requirements of the travelling public, either speed up the mixed goods and passenger train service now running between Napier and Palmerston North and vice versa, or run an extra passenger train between the two places, giving quicker communication than at present. The Prime Minister replied that the question of improving the service had already been gone into by the Department, and he hoped shortly to have i either the mixed train speeded up or an I extra fast passenger train put on.
