If picked violets are put out in the open air anil dew every night they will keep fresh for a fortnight. Instead of the usual “pound of sugar to a pound of fruit” when making jam, use a little over half a pound of sugar and one good teaspoonful of glycerine. The-jam will set firmly, keep better aud be more wholesome. Use milk instead of face cream for the complexion. If sour, all the better. Dab all over face and neck, then work it well in, and powder as usual. Muttonfat may be used to prevent roughness. Massage the face and hands with it, and wash off with warm water with a little lemon juice added, before powdering.
