NEW SCHOOL FOR EASTERN SUBURBS
BUILDING AT TIRANGI ROAD After the specifications have been prepared I will ask Cabinet for a grant for the new school at Tirangi Road, because 1 am 'sure the district needs it,” said the Minister of Education (the Hon. R. A. Wright) in the House of Representatives yesterday, when replying to the request of Mr. T. Forsyth (Wellington East) that immediate instructions be given for the construction of the school, in view of the present overcrowding at thci Lyall Bay School. “I have to admit that the Lyall Bay School is overcrowded, the Minister said. “The difficulty is simply this: It was hoped that the new school at Miramar and the Rongotai College would indirectly give some relief to the position at Lyall Bay, but this notwithstanding, there still appears to be very serious cougestiou at the Lyall Bay School. It is impossible to construct additional buildings on that site on account of its limited extent.” The Minister promised to gc into the question of the new school at Tirangi Road, concluding with the intimation given above.
