Meteorological Office, Wellington, September 6, 4 p.m, A very intense cyclone is situated west of Cape Egmont and advancing on to the Dominion. Strong north-east to northerly winds, reaching gale iorce m many pjaces and gradually backing to south-westerlies after about twenty-four hours. Seas becoming rough generally m New Zealand waters. Strong northerly winds to gales m the eastern Tasman Sea, later backing to south-westerlies with rough to high seas. Weather unsettled and stormy generally, with ram. Heavy falls in many, places. Mild temperatures at first, but cold change working up from the south after a'bout twenty-foui houi s.
