WHALE OIL ROYALTIES
A-SUBSTANTIAL INCREASE According to the annual report of the Marine Department, presented to Parliament yesterday, the royalties on whale oil procured in Ross Sea showed a substantial increase during 1928. The following statement shows the revenue received each year since the dependency has been under the Department’s administration: 1923-24, £200; ] 924-25, £200; 1925-26, £1720; 1926-27, £2921;-1927-28, £7176. For the last whaling season it is anticipated that the royalties, etc., will amount to approximately £13,000.
