INSTITUTE CLUB SMOKE CONCERT. The Institute Rugby Football Club held its annual smoke concept last night, Mr. W...J. Jordan presiding. The chairman stated that the past season had been a most successful one so far as the club was concerned. Each of the three teams had given a good account of itself, and he hoped next year they would be able to field a junio team. Mr. T. A. Hislop, representing the i Wellington Rugby, Union, said that they I hoped that one day the club would gain senior status, and that the Rugby team woulu occupy the same position as the Soccer and cricket teams enjoyed. .Presentations. were made to the coaches, Messrs. Thomas and McNair. The Institute Rugby Shield for the team gaining; the most championship points was won by the intermediates. The toast list included: “The Wellington Rugby Union,” proposed by 'Mr. C. A. Holden and responded to by Mr. T. A. Hislop; “The Referees’ Association.” proposed by Mr. J. Russell and responded to by Mr. W. A. Parton; “Institute Committee.” proposed by Mr. L. Mills and responded to by Messrs. W. A. Parton and W. I. Gibson; “The Intermediate Coaches,” proposed by Mr. C.' Burt and responded to by Mr. F. Thomas /“Fifth Grade Coach,” proposed by Mr. R. Whitehead and responded to by Mr.'R." S. McNair; “The Soccer Team.” proposed by Mr. H. S. King and responded to by Mr. C.. A. Holden. Items were rendered during the evening by Messrs. D. Bremner, P. Middleton, and C, A. Holden. J
