The report of the ’Wellington Cricket Umpire’s Association, which is to be presented at the annual meeting next week, states that there are 40 members on the roll, 33 active, and seven hon-aetive, the average number officiating at matches last year being 26. “The exchange of umpires m Plunket Shield and interprovincial matches, is still an important question in cricket circles, and the subject will be brought .up for further consideration,” continues *the report. An appeal was made to all clubs under the jurisdiction of the Wellington Cricket Association, to assist us by adding new members to our ranks, but it is to be regretted that the request proved futile, several clubs stating their inability to do so, and the majority .did not reply. This is very disappointing, and shows a lamentable lack of interest on the part of clubs, who should do their utmost to increase our ranks.”
